Transcribe Dropbox Files Automatically with Otter

Otter's integration with Dropbox allows for seamless transcription workflows, with no manual uploads or back-and-forth required. Recordings like interviews, meetings, and video content are automatically transcribed and saved to Otter, streamlining the entire process.

What does the Dropbox Integration Enable?

When you connect Dropbox to Otter, any audio or video file added to your Apps/Otter folder in Dropbox is automatically synced and transcribed by Otter. The resulting transcript is stored in your Dropbox and also saved to your Otter account under My Conversations.

This is especially useful for:

  • Journalists or creators uploading interviews or podcasts
  • Teams recording Zoom/Teams/Google Meet calls
  • Video editors needing quick transcript references
  • Businesses capturing client or team meeting recordings

But in reality, Dropbox for Otter is an integration that can help anyone who is looking to work more efficiently. Manually handling transcripts is time-consuming and inconvenient, which is exactly why we worked with Dropbox to offer this game-changing integration.

Note: The Dropbox integration is available for Otter Business and Enterprise plans only. Learn more about upgrading your plan.

How to Connect Otter to Dropbox

  1. In your Otter account, go to Apps (left side menu navigation)
  2. Click Add next to Dropbox
  3. Sign into your Dropbox account to complete the connection

Once connected, simply upload audio or video files into your Dropbox > Apps > Otter folder. As mentioned above, Otter will automatically transcribe them and sync the transcript back to the same folder.

And that’s it, you’re ready to go! Easy, right?

Key Benefits of the Otter + Dropbox Integration

  • Automatic transcription: Any audio/video file added to Dropbox is instantly transcribed via Otter
  • Dual storage: Transcripts are saved both in Dropbox and Otter for easy access across both tools
  • Speaker ID: As always, Otter updates transcripts with speaker names once processing completes
  • Custom export formats/settings: You can modify how Otter exports files - choose from PDF, TXT, DOCX, or SRT in Account Settings > Apps > Dropbox > Modify export settings
  • Time-saving automation: Otter and Dropbox sync in the background, allowing you to cut down on "work about work" and focus on high-value tasks
